Kidney stones (also known as nephrolithiasis) are hard deposits composed of minerals, such as calcium, oxalate, and uric acid. The stones vary in size and type, which is where the problem lies. The smaller stones can exit your body through your urine. However, the bigger the stone, the riskier the situation (via WebMD). But, what causes them in the first place?
