Monkeypox is known for causing a blistery rash that can appear in genital areas, face, or extremities, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This rash could appear within three weeks of exposure to someone infected with monkeypox. Monkeypox can also produce flu-like symptoms, such as fever, chills, and body aches. The virus spreads primarily through direct contact with someone who has the virus, but it can also spread through used bedding or towels.
