India Records World's Highest One-Day Tally of COVID-19 Cases

India's pandemic surge far exceeds that of any other country on Earth. Its healthcare system is in danger of crumbling and there were more than 300,000 new cases on Wednesday, the highest daily record for a single country — it surpassed 200,000 cases the week prior. Of the nearly 16 million people infected with COVID-19, an estimated 185,000 have died, but experts believe that number is undercounted. Things are so dire, people have turned to social media for help.
