Things people get wrong about Jesus

Even if you're not a Christian, chances are pretty good that you've heard of the religion's central figure: Jesus Christ. He's quite possibly one of the most pivotal figures in all of history, essentially kicking off what's still the world's largest religion, Christianity. The Untold Truth Of Jesus

More than 2,000 years after his birth in a humble manger, Jesus of Nazareth has a following of 2 billion people, according to OpenMind BBVA. While followers of Christ today don't need historical proof of his existence for their faith-based beliefs, biblical scholars have long scoured the archaeological and historical records for evidence nonetheless.

This Is What Jesus Really Looked Like In The Bible

One of the most important figures in all of history, and in particular, the most important historical figure in the life of hundreds of millions of Christians around the world, is Jesus of Nazareth — Jesus Christ. The narrative surrounding the life, death, and resurrection of the First-Century Palestinian Jewish carpenter forms the basis of the religious beliefs of nearly 2.3 billion followers.

The Most Famous Visions Of Jesus And Mary In History

Visions of Jesus and his mother, Mary, have been with Christianity since its very beginning. The very first account of a divine encounter with a post-crucifixion Jesus is related in the Gospel of John. In it, Jesus has died on the cross, has been resurrected, and has begun appearing to his followers. Though some of his followers were said to have witnessed the returned Jesus, the Apostle Thomas wasn't with them at the time. He remained highly skeptical, saying he wouldn't believe it until he could see Jesus for himself and identify the wounds his leader had received on the cross. Jesus appeared and, to really make sure Thomas got it, allowed his disciple to touch the wound in question.

The Jesus Christ Theory That Would Change Everything

Throughout history, there have been numerous examples of a phenomenon known as "simultaneous invention," when the same discovery or innovation is made by two separate people at just about the same time. Quartz notes how in the 1770s, Carl Wilhelm Scheele and Joseph Priestley both discovered oxygen, while in 1869, Louis Ducos du Hauron and Charles Cros shared the "earliest workable methods of color photography" on exactly the same day. Such coincidences are certainly uncanny, but nothing quite compares to the claim of what might be considered "simultaneous lives," especially when one of those lives is one of the most consequential ever lived — that of Jesus Christ.
