Terror At Pulse Nightclub

This breaking news story developing now is on the deadly mass shooting which took place late last night at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. There was a hostage situation which lasted for three hours. 49 people are fatally shot, 53 others are wounded, and 30 hostages have been rescued. The shooter is shot dead after a gun battle with SWAT officers. He is identified as 29 year-old Omar Mateen, a U.S. citizen who was born in New York and lives in Fort Pierce. His parents are from Afghanistan. He is married and has a 3 year-old son. Mateen worked as a security guard at a local courthouse. He was armed with guns and another suspicious device and pledged allegiance to ISIS. This shooting is called an act of domestic terrorism and a hate crime. Florida Governor Rick Scott along with Orlando mayor Buddy Dyer have declared a state of emergency throughout the city. This is the deadliest mass shooting to ever occur in U.S. history since the Virginia Tech shooting where 32 people were killed on April 16, 2007.
