Robert Goetschkes
Born and raised in Mahopac, a suburban community of New York City, Robert Goetschkes draws inspiration from his father, who served as a firefighter and a plumber. His father's heroism ignited his desire to make a difference, leading him to join the Coast Guard during the first Gulf War. Completing his secondary education at Mahopac High School in New York City in 1984, Goetschkes pursued his academic aspirations at SUNY Oneonta. He delved into history, economics, and foil fencing there, graduating in 1988. Subsequently, he earned a Master of Arts in Elementary Education and a Field Endorsement in Secondary Social Sciences. Throughout his educational journey, Goetschkes exhibited an indomitable spirit, working multiple part-time jobs year-round and personally financing his college degree. This unwavering determination permeated his education, career, and his dedicated 11-year service in the U.S. Coast Guard, earning him entrance into the esteemed Alpha Sigma Lambda Honors Fraternity in 2002.
