Hello Milky Way

#Istanbul ☔️

Photo :: @jimmy_chin There's something primal about swinging ice axes and kicking crampons into ice. @realwillgadd has been getting primal for a long time. Happy to get a day w him in the Ghost Wilderness. It's been a while, almost 15 years since we last shot together. Hello Smithsonian Instagram followers! I'm Ryan Deboodt (@rdeboodt), a photographer specializing in caves. This week I'll be taking you on a journey through the caves of Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park in Vietnam which includes the world's largest cave, Hang Son Doong. Can't wait! This was the only photo I could find of myself (definitely like being behind the camera and not in front!) of me in a glacier cave on Mt Hood in Oregon.

Hidden Underworld

Ryan Deboodt (@rdeboodt) here on my @smithsonianmagazine takeover taking you on a journey through the caves in Phong Nha Ke Bang in central Vietnam. In Hang Son Doong there is sometimes a lake that forms near the exit of the cave. This lake can appear and disappear quickly, just a few days after I took this photo all the water was gone and all that was left was a muddy trench.

Thank you for your sympathy, last week. #myfeelgoodplace
