  Diwali, Deepavali, or Divali is the festival of lights celebrated by Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs all over the world. The five-day festival celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Houses are decorated with oil lamps made of clay called diyas. People perform prayer ceremonies, exchange gifts, and feast. Here are a few recipes I love, such as chole (a flavorful chickpea stew), sticky and sweet gulab jamun, and crisp samosas. Happy Diwali!
