Conversion Therapy

Three years ago the UK government pledged to put an end to conversion therapy, a practice which attempts to cure a person of their sexual orientation or gender identity. This year, the Queen's speech confirmed the plan to ban "abhorrent" therapies and provide funding for victims in need of support. The prime minister has called it a "complex" issue citing religious freedoms and LGBTQ+ campaigners have strongly criticised the delayed action and a potential loophole for continued discrimination.
