As a result, it suffered the resignations of Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid, along with a string of other MPs. The prime minister has been criticised over his lack of action, after he was made aware of claims of inappropriate behaviour by the party's former deputy chief whip. Chris Pincher resigned last week over allegations he groped two men in a private club.
