CCTV captures moment Dragons Den winner crashes £100k Ferrari in city centre
CCTV footage has captured the moment a Dragons' Den winner crashed his £100k red Ferrari on a city centre street after allegedly losing control of the super-car. The video shows the red Ferrari F430 as it veered across the road, narrowly missing three people walking along the street, including a jogger. The car, worth over £100k, then smashed into four bike racks, bending them out of shape before coming to halt as it billowed smoke. Ross Mendham, 40, escaped unharmed from his high-power sportscar just before 5pm Sunday afternoon (March 17). The son of former Norwich City star Peter Mendham was arrested afterwards for alleged breach of his bail conditions and appeared in court on Monday (March 18). The bail relates to an upcoming trial over allegations he knocked out his heavily pregnant partner during a violent argument. Mendham is accused of punching his partner, Annabelle Weedall, who was 32 weeks pregnant, in the face causing her to lose consciousness on December 2 last year. He denied assault causing actual bodily harm when he appeared via video link from prison at Norwich Crown Court on January 3. Appearing at Norwich Magistrates’ Court in custody on Monday (March 18), Mendham pleaded guilty to breach of bail by not keeping a GPS tag charged. Josephine Jones, prosecuting, said a night-time 7pm-7am curfew at his home at Sorrel Grove in Cringleford, was supposed to be electronically monitored. Defence solicitor Gina Mattioli said it was a technical breach due to short battery life possibly caused by faulty equipment. Magistrates re-imposed the same bail conditions including a ban on leaving Norfolk. He is due to stand trial at Norwich Crown Court on June 5 for the alleged assault. A Norfolk Police spokesperson said: "Police were called to Rose Lane, Norwich at 4.58pm on Sunday, March 17 following reports of a single vehicle collision. "The road was closed whilst emergency services, including fire, attended the scene. "No one was injured and the road reopened at 6.25pm." When Mendham appeared on Dragons' Den in 2013, entrepreneur Peter Jones invested £60,000 in his low calorie venture, which is now called Barenaked Foods. Last year he also launched a fashion brand called God of Design (GOD) that upcycled vintage and designer clothing.
