Tomato Daal (With Garlic Tadka) Serves: 2 - 3 You will need For dal: 100 g (1 cup) moong dal (split yellow dal) / tur dal 300 ml ( 3 cups) water 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon oil 1 teaspoon milk For seasoning: 1 tablespoon oil 1 onion, finely chopped ½ teaspoon red chilli powder ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder 1 tomato (pick well rip, 1 big or 2 small size), finely chopped 3/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste) Extra 50 ml hot water Method For dal: Wash and soak moong dal / tur dal in 300 ml (3 cups) water for half an hour and pressure cook along with turmeric powder, oil and milk for 20 minutes or until done and soft (Reduce heat after 2 nd whistle and cook on a medium heat for 15 minutes. Do not open the lid. Allow the cooker to cool naturally). Final preparation: In a wide pan, heat oil. Add finely chopped onion and fry till pink color on a low to medium heat. Add red chilli powder and turmeric powder. Stir well on a low heat for 2 minutes. Add chopped tomato / tomatoes and stir well for 2 minutes. Add boiled dal and salt to taste. Add extra 50 ml hot water if required. Cover with a lid and cook on a low to medium heat for 12 - 15 minutes or until slightly thickens. Final garlic tadka: You will need 2 teaspoons oil 1 teaspoon jeera (cumin seeds) 6 – 8 garlic cloves, finely chopped 2 teaspoon chopped coriander leaves Method Heat oil in a tadka pan. Add jeera and fry on a low heat for 1 – 2 minute until fragrant and light brown color. Add chopped garlic and fry on a low heat for 3 – 4 minutes or until golden color. Pour the seasoning over dal and serve hot with Rice / Rotis. Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves.
Masoor Dal Recipee!! Ingredients: 2 cups masoor dal 1 1/2 teaspoons garam masala 1 1/2 teaspoons turmeric 1 tsp salt 1/3 cup oil 1 1/2 onions, chopped 1 head garlic, separated, chopped 1 (1-inch piece) ginger root, chopped 2 jalapeno chiles, chopped 2 tomatoes, chopped 1 bunch coriander, chopped Water Method: Rinse masoor dal thoroughly , until water is clean . In pot bring 1 quart water to boil. Add masoor dal. Cook half way, about 10-15 minutes , add 1/2 tsp. garam masala, 1/2 tsp. turmeric & salt . As masoor dal cooks, uncovered, water will evaporate & mixture will thicken. Add more water to keep dal loose, like texture of thick cream . When dal is soft, turn off heat. Heat oil in wok. When oil is very hot , add onions & cook until tender & translucent but not browned. Add garlic, ginger & chilies. Continue to fry until onions are deep yellow. Add remaining 1 tsp. each garam masala & turmeric. Do not allow spices to burn . Keep stiring until mixture starts to stick. Add tomatoes & cook until tomatoes soften. Pour in pot of masoor dal & simmer to blend flavours. Taste & add more salt if needed. Sreve hot with rice.
Recipee Of Chicken Kolhapuri As Its Requested By Some-one!! :) Ingredients for Marination 1 lb Chicken drumsticks 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder 1 tsp Red Chilli powder 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic paste 1 tbsp Lemon Juice 1 tsp Garam Masala Method: Marinade 1) Wash chicken pieces well and remove its skin or fats part. 2) Add ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, salt, lemon juice to chicken, rub all spices well on chicken and keep to marinate for 30 mts. Masala Preparation 1) Heat up oil, add cumin seeds, whole garam spices, coriander seeds, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, chopped garlic and cook till spices start to change its color. 2) Add dry grated coconut, sliced onion and cook till onion gets light brown color. 3) Add tomatoes to blender, add onion masala, some water and grind to make smooth paste. Gravy Preparation 1) Heat up oil, add ground masala paste, add red chilli powder, garam masala and cook for just 5 mts. 2) Add marinated chicken pieces, mix well, add water to desired consistency, cover and cook for 20 mts. till the time chicken gets tender. Hot and spicy Kolapuri Chicken is good to go! Tips: 1) Marination helps chicken to get cook faster and improves its flavor. 2) If degi mirch is not available, use regular red chilli powder.
