The most underreported issue in the midterms is bodily autonomy. Abortion bans and transgender bans get reported as separate issues, yet the fight for reproductive and trans rights were always on parallel tracks. Christian Nationalists understood that fundamental linkage and mounted a coordinated assault. Choosing what one does with one’s body is an ultimate threat to their vision of control. Our bodies are a first site of liberation. A free society is impossible without freedom over our bodies.
