archatlas: Transparent Pavilion-like Extension to an English Cottage Yew Tree House by Eastabrook Architects and Jonathan Tuckey Design adds this glazed extension to a Grade II-listed cottage in the Cotswold. From the architects: This project in Oddington, Gloucesershire, followed several proposals and lengthy negotiations with the Council’s conservation officer as the Cottage is Listed and in the Conservation Area. There was initial resistance to a contemporary extension despite this looking on to the rear garden. Eventually the planning officers agreed to the proposals on the basis that the extension is ‘transparent’ and the original walls of the cottage can still be seen behind. The interiors follow the contemporary theme with polished concrete floors and worktops and sandblasted oak. Images and text via + via (via archatlas)
