Small emergency hut at the beginning of Cradles mountain overland track. Again reflections I love them.

A beautiful view of Mt Rolland thanks to Robert MacMillan. Mount Roland is found on Tassie's north west coast, near the village of Sheffield on the northern edge of the Great Western Tiers. Roland unquestionably offers a rewarding short day out. The lovely walk through scented eucalyptus forest with plenty of delightful birdsong, the steep pull up onto the plateau to get the heart rate going, the stroll across the flats, usually keeping company with wallabies, and the final views from the summit all combine for a magical experience. The mountain rises to 1234 metres and there are a number of well-marked bushwalks, including long established tracks from both Claude Road and Gowrie Park to the summit. #tasmania #tassie #tassiepics #instatasmania #tasmaniagram #clicktasmania #seeaustralia #hobartandbeyond #mtroland #greatwesterntiers #discoveraustralia #discovertasmania #amazingtasmania #amazingaustralia #exploretasmania #exploreaustralia #australia #gosomewhere #getlostnow

I've been walking for the weekend! I took a couple of young sprouts overnight to the #ScottKilvert Hut just behind #CradleMountain. This photo looks west down the #HansonsPeak chain, across #DoveLake from just beneath Hansons Peak. The eastern wall of the #Cradle Plateau is in view. #MarionsLookout is just out of shot in the top right, and #KitchenHut and #CradleMountain are to the left. Hansons Peak stands at 1185m and is the highest point of the #LakeRodway Track. #cradle365 #mountains #bushwalking #hiking #camping #photography #outdoorphotography #landscapephotography #welove_mountain #snowysoutdoors #mountgoanna #outside_project #tasmania #discovertasmania #freedom #nature #getoutside #sunshine

A reflective moment in time on the edge of Dove Lake in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area with @sams_shotss. The kaleidoscope of colours that wash over this scene as weather and light patterns shift is one of the features of this legendary wilderness setting. Standing at 1,545 metres, Cradle Mountain is Tassie's fifth-highest mountain. However, it's easily our most iconic, with wilderness adventures suited to all levels of fitness and motivation. And with the arrival of Spring and an explosion of native blossoms, there's no better time to start dealing with that bucket list! What are you waiting for? Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania, Sam.

Looking out over The Nut and picturesque town of Stanley nestled at its base, captured by @beckingthing. Tucked away on @tasmaniasnorthwest corner, The Nut is an iconic volcanic rock formation that rises from the waters of Bass Strait and towers 143m over the nearby town. With landscape like this, it's easy to see why Tasmania has been the starring backdrop for many an epic tale, both in history and in stunning works of fiction. Currently Tassie is reclaiming her role on the small screen and starting this month the big screen, with her iconic scenery, pristine wilderness, bountiful produce and inspired cultural offerings as the setting for multiple exciting productions. First off the rank is Light Between the Oceans which was filmed right here in Stanley. Tassie has a treasure trove of enchanting stories and she's waiting for you to discover her for yourself this Spring .... thanks for tagging #discovertasmania, Beck! #Lightbetweentheoceans #Tasmaniatheactress #Tasmaniansnorthwest

The #Waldheim bath house in #cradlemountain. This is a replica of the original building that once stood here. It is built from slabs and pailings cut from the King Billy Pine trees, which surround the cabin. What is truly amazing and such a show of Gustav Weindorfer's personality and determination was that of the cast iron bath that he carried in over miles and miles of trackless bushland. Such was his love of this special place! #hobartandbeyond #instatasmania #tassiepics #tassiegram #tassie #jw_snapshots #au_nz_hotshotz #tasmaniagram #discovertasmania #australia #seeaustralia #exploreaustralia #visitaustralia #awesomeplaces #fantastic_earth #wanderlust #ig_australia #australia_shotz #cradlemountainnationalpark #hikingadventures

If you're looking for us today, you'll find us here - taking in the sprawling views of one of Tasmania’s most recognised natural icons, Cradle Mountain. @Grunterhunter snapped this awe-inspiring scene at first light on a crisp Spring morning in the vast wilderness of @tasmaniasnorthwest. While the mountain itself is a jewel in the crown of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, there is so much more to experience in the greater Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. Whether you're keen to try out the network of graded walking tracks, visit a glacial lake, explore the dense alpine rainforests, or get your adrenaline pumping on a canyoning adventure, there's no shortage of things to excite in this pristine wilderness this spring.

The steel blue surface of Crater Lake mirrors winter skies over Cradle Mountain in this cool shot from @my_jouney_around_tasmania. Despite its name, Crater Lake is not a volcanic crater; it was formed by the action of glacial ice during previous ice ages. In autumn, the steep slopes that surround this beautiful lake are ablaze with the glorious colours of Tasmania's native Diciduous beech, or fagus. The dark colour of the water, like so many lakes and streams throughout western Tasmania, is the result of tanins leached from buttongrass and tea tree vegetation. The two-hour circuit walk to Crater Lake from the Dove Lake carpark is one of several in the immediate area of Tassie's iconic mountain. Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania, Sharna.

Fiery dawn skies rise over the imposing silhouettes of the Acropolis in Tassie's Central Highlands. These rugged and remote mountains are part of the Du Cane Range in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park and are a popular side trip for those tackling the 6-day trek of Tassie's infamous Overland Track. As winter wanes and we head in our warmer spring and summer months, many intrepid walkers prepare to take advantage of the longer days as they take on this iconic alpine trek. For the adventurous (and well-prepared) walker, there's still time to to venture into this magical landscape during our snowy winter months, where iced-over lakes and snow-capped peaks are gaurenteed to take your breath away! Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania, @dsallai! #SeeAustralia#Tasmania #OverlandTrack

A fresh winter coat adorns Barn Bluff in this stunning shot by acclaimed Tasmanian photographer, Grant Dixon. The fourth highest peak in Tassie, Barn Bluff’s distinctive shape makes it one of Tassie most recognised landscapes. It’s located within the northern end of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park and can be easily seen from across the Cradle Plateau. Its emergency on the horizon is a highlight for walkers on the early stages of the world-famous Overland Track. The summit is reached via a steep path that includes some scrambling over dolerite boulders. It’s a popular side-trip for hikers and mountaineers alike. A stunning photo, Grant. And thanks for tagging #discovertasmania, @tasweekend

'Waldheim' Cradle Mountain Tasmania. A real treat, when we were joined by our lady Aurora Australis, whilst out stargazing at Cradle Mountain on Saturday night. After enjoying hot Lattès under the stars at Dove Lake, @tassieoutnabout and I decided to venture on and visit the famous Waldheim Chalet. Rising behind the Chalet is a star studded sky, stained with the colours of the Aurora and a bright Milky Way. With a little remaining snow in the foreground, a quick light paint, this scene was complete. By then temperatures had dropped to -4° so it was home to thaw out. Love this place...Tassie you are just so great.! #lovethisplace #tasmania #cradlemountain#waldheimchalet#aurora

When visiting the sprawling valleys of Northwest Tassie, it's hard not to be taken aback by the sheer beauty around every corner. @cassandrasheehanphotography discovered this recently while road-tripping through the region, taking in the majestic views of a snow-dusted Mount Roland. One of the most prominent peaks in the area, Mount Roland stands proudly at 1,234m over the rural landscape near the township of Sheffield. This picturesque region, on the northern edge of the Great Western Tiers, is a land filled with history and adventure. Whether you're keen for an afternoon at a museum, a day on the hiking trail or a week of wine tasting, you're bound to find something here that will tickle your fancy! #DiscoverTasmania #seeaustralia

Wynyard, Town in Tasmania, Australia. . Wynyard is a rural town on the north-west coast of Tasmania, Australia 16 kilometres west of Burnie on the Bass Highway at the mouth of the Inglis River. At the 2011 census Wynyard had an urban population of 5,061 and a total greater population of 5,990. . The Tommeginner were a tribe of Indigenous Australians who lived in the region along the coastline until soon after the arrival of Europeans in the 19th century. As hunter-gatherers, the Tommeginner hunted for game on the plains inland, but they also built tidal fish traps with rocks close to the shore at Fossil Bluff which are still evident today. Wynyard was probably named after Major-General Edward Buckley Wynyard in the early 1850s. . #townofaustralia #wynyard #history #northwesttasmania #sky #cloud #ocean #bassstrait #indigenous #golfclub #travelgram #cruising_australia #tassiepics #thisistassie #focusaustralia #exploreaustralia #seetasmania #seeaustralia #australia_shotz #discovertasmania #instatasmania #tasmaniagram #instatassie #australiagram #ig_australia #wow_australia2016 #tassielife #aussiephotos #unlimited_australia
