Sept

Sept. 3, 1974: Philippe Petit braved the Great Falls of Paterson, N.J., hardly a month after his tightrope walk between the twin towers of the World Trade Center. The latter stunt, though spectacular and queasy-making, failed to make front-page news — President Richard M. Nixon was busy deciding whether to resign. And the former stunt, nearly as stunning a feat of physical ability and poise, was faulted for being quite brief relative to the wait. “My back is killing me,” one man said. “We’ve …

I've lost count of the number of years I've been kindred spirits with @warmpears. It was through her eyes, her lens, her vision of these romantic streets that I fell in love with Italy's light. This January, to celebrate Johnny and I's 10year (meeting) anniversary, the day he walked into the coffee shop where I was a barista and left me a note, we are going to Rome. "Experiences over things" we have committed to this Holiday season. Tell us where we should go, what should we see? We can't wait to show you Italy through our eyes... I was having a bad day when I snapped this, a day so bad I probably shouldn’t have been out on the street. Shooting photos in that state of mind is never a good idea and often leads to confrontation. Though I don’t drink, the gesture from this gentleman here truly made my day and helped restore hope...hope for today that might spark change for tomorrow. Ironic, it’s always the folks without much that are the first to offer help or share what little they with you, a complete stranger. These people are a dying breed, especially here in San Francisco, a city that’s going through an insane makeover at the moment, where you literally have lines drawn between classes of people.
