Darrin Eakins is a survivor. He has battled addiction and depression for over a decade, but he has never given up. While recovering from multiple surgeries, Darrin became addicted to oxycontin, a prescription opiate that has since been banned from use and subject to many lawsuits because of its highly addictive properties. This ultimately led to depression, estrangement from family, and divorce. He has now been in recovery for six years and spends time each week assisting those who are struggling with addiction, sharing his experiences with community organizations, and attempting to repay what has been given to him—a second chance at life.
