Zion Colors Before you ask, no, this wasn't taken this year! When our son Kevin was going to school in Yosemite Valley, he used to get a week off near the end of October each year. Many park employees couldn't get time off during the summer, so the school scheduled that week in October to give families a chance to take a non-summer vacation. That worked perfectly for us, since the timing often corresponded with good fall color. We went to Zion on several of these fall trips, where we could usually find the bigtooth maples turning in the canyons east of the tunnel. I found this juxtaposition of a maple with a Gambel oak along one of the washes in this area. For some reason it took me a long time to find a composition I liked, but I finally ended up perched on a sloping sandstone slab to get this angle. #landscapephotography #zionnationalpark #autumn #autumnphotography #fall #fallcolors #nationalpark

Here's a spectacular image for our "Telephoto" theme from Aviation Prints. This photograph of the RAF Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows, was taken at the Duxford Airshow in the UK at an exposure of 1/1000, ISO 200, f/8.

Rex Steyskal posted this suspiciously sublime-looking tiger for our "Telephoto" theme, taken with a Canon 20D Tamron and AF70-300mm zoom.

Here's a beautiful, painterly image for our "Telephoto" theme. Photographer Paul Monday explains: "Canon 5DMII with 100-400mm IS USM zoom at 340mm, f/5.6. This was from last year's fall aspens in Vail (during the Vail Cup soccer tournament. The next two weeks should be peak aspen color time here in Colorado!"

Photokina officially begins tomorrow, so stay tuned for ongoing updates from Editor Dan Havlik on all the new gear. In the meantime, here's a night view of Cologne's famous Cathedral from across the Rhine River by Shutterbug Publisher Ron Leach.

Here's another nice shot for our "Telephoto" theme by Anil Gaba, taken with a Nikon D800 & Nikkor 200-400 f/4 VR II zoom lens.
