  • “It’s hard to say which is more remarkable: a chance meeting with your idol in New York City, or that you’re a fifteen-year-old kid and your idol happens to be Alexander Calder. You’d have to ask Daniel Goldstein. “It was a pure coincidence, and I remember Calder was wearing overalls and a flannel shirt,” recalls public artist David Goldstein, who met the master on an autumn day in 1965 while bicycling through Lincoln Center. “He was installing Le Guichet right outside the Vivian Beaumont theater, and he was very kind.” They didn’t share more than a few words, but it was enough to make an impression on the developing artist, who had discovered the work of Calder and begun crafting his own mobiles at the age of twelve.”

The project creates a community-friendly, park-like campus, provides a safe, welcoming and sustainable environment for the facility’s clients and promotes interdepartmental collaboration among its 1,000 employees. • “The purpose of this project/research was to develop a cosmetic skin for a volunteer amputee with an existing prosthesis. Each skin was non-structural and made out of various 3D printed and CNC'd materials and acted to simulate the shape of their body, with the hope that these designs would improve personal comfort and personal sense of self in the participant. The Department of Interior Architecture and Product Design (IAPD) at K-State has provided support for costs of this work, each of which varied around roughly $120 for a final (plus about $80 to develop the prototypes).”
