The monument: LOOM LIGHT is a tribute to Jan Zwartendijk and many other invisible heroes of resistance from the region during the Second World War. The impressive interactive lightwork, marks 75 years of living in freedom.
Labyrinth is a sculptural costume and series of performances on health and embodiment. The woven and wrapped chest plate is constructed as a literal labyrinth with one route leading to and through the naval of the piece. Labyrinths are universal signs of unity and healing. Signifying organs and viscera, it uses fashion to subvert expectations of what’s public and private, shared and un-shared about internal health issues, including but not limited to the subjects of motherhood, birth, digestion and integration.
The Urban Farm Pod is an interface with the city, potentially touching upon urban farming, air quality levels, DIY agronomy techniques in test tubes, algal energy production, and bioluminescent light sources, to name a few possibilities. It can be outfitted with a number of optional systems to adapt to different locations, lighting conditions, and habitation requirements.
Commissioned by Dreamland to design and install this landmark 160 square foot mosaic mural around the theme of open borders immigration policy. From a photo taken by Kendra Gorleski, the model Sahar Mahmood, a second generation Kenyan-Pakistani American student and makeup artist is humanized through her unwavering gaze. Striking dialogue and internal reflection on all visitors to the space, she represents inclusion, American optimism and hope, the melting pot nation we are today.
“The Love I Vibrate” is a mural produced for Howard Brown Health Center, this mural focuses on mental and physical health treatments offered specifically to the LGBTQ community and patients who identify as non-binary.
