project/infinitus-albuquerque-public-art-program "Infinitus" was designed as a memorial tribute to Gordon Church - a Vietnam Veteran - linguist and former Director of the Albuquerque Public Art Program. The sculptural bench - commissioned by the Albuquerque Public Art Program - was intended for the New Mexico Veteran's Memorial Building which Gordon helped to develop. The steel and custom ceramic mosaic bench is accompanied by a cloud mural. The cloud image was taken from an original painting by Scott Greene then printed onto vinyl and applied to the wall. The text in the painting is from Gordon's Vietnam journal. #CODAmagazine #writtenword #memorial #vietnam #war #veteran #honor #steel #custom #ceramic #mosaic #albuquerque #newmexico

“Seasons of our Community” submitted by Koryn Rolstad @korynrolstadstudios https://www.codaworx.com/project/seasons-of-our-community-c-tran-rts-fourth-plain-rapid-transit-project-vancouver-mall-station KRS worked with historians, Native Sovereign nationalities, universities and education venues to secure a visual story of this rich and interesting region in Vancouver, WA. The glass was fabricated by several companies that used our film images. KRS fabricated designs for the Stainless Steel 8' arches and used black etching for the detail symbols and language. KRS also designed and fabricated the 'story' stainless steel arcs embedded in the concrete telling the stories of the community history and native culture of the Cowlitz, Nez Pierce and Chinook sovereign nations. #CODAmagazine #writtenword #vancouver #washington #community #art #design #education #symbols #language #stories #native #culture

“Encryption Wall” by Daniel DeRoux https://www.codaworx.com/project/encryption-wall-thunder-mountain-high-school The goal of this project was to entice and challenge students to do wide research on the symbols, and in doing so, for them to expose themselves to a wide range of topics and sources that they might otherwise not experience....and to make it difficult enough as to be enduring. A famous inspirational phrase is encrypted in a wide variety of coded symbols. Each image represents a letter. The images are sourced from pop culture to arcane alphabets. #CODAmagazine #writtenword #codes #symbols #encrypted #pop #culture #inspirational #challenging #train #thebrain #juneau #arkansas

The sculpture, “a Melting Message Monument,” was conceived as a dynamic visual symbol of the international cooperation and trust necessary to preserve and purify the precious natural resource of water, essential to human survival. The sculpture contained the combined samples of water, collected with the patronage of UNESCO, from more than 90 nations of the world. #CODAmagazine #writtenworn #installation #icesculpture #unitednations #water #naturalresource #humansurvival #preservation #international #responsibility
