Implementation of an initiative to teach children the Palestinian curriculum in Rafah, Gaza
This footage was filmed and produced 27 March 2024. A Palestinian teacher implements an initiative to teach children the Palestinian curriculum in one of the shelter centres in the city of Rafah after the educational process has stopped since the start of the war. This video was filmed in the centre of Rafah in a camp called “Ahl al-Khair” for displaced people. The name of the interviewee is Enas Abu Saada, who came up with the idea. SOUNDBITE, Enas Abu Saada: 02:08-02:15 - We need one school at least in every camp. -And I am ready to teach in two schools, not just one. 02:30-02:40 The initiative was to make tents to shelter displaced civilians in Rafah. We didn't have an area, but several areas. 02:40-02:48 The idea came from Dr. Sabaa Jarrar. The idea is to make some tents in the area for displaced people. 02:50-03:30 So we found the land and built the first three tents, and now we have 50 tents and 63 families. 03:03-03:08 The initiative of education was found by us when we told Dr. Sabaa about it. 03:09-03:19 The idea came from the child martyr "Hind," and everyone knows the story of her. So we called the school "Hind School." 03:19-03:33 We need to learn and teach the children. We have children who will build the future of Palestine, especially Gaza. We lost a lot of our children, but we have a lot of them who will rebuild Gaza. 03:33-04:07 The psyche of the children before we found the school was broken, but after the school was founded, they are getting better. Some of them had a speech problem, but now they can speak and do a lot of activities with the teacher.
