Brooklyn Laboratory Charter Schools (LAB) is a haven for students in need of academic support. For four days each week, these middle school students attend tutoring for 50 minutes each day, totaling 200 minutes weekly. This time is built into the existing academic schedule, and students are put in groups for tutoring based on their needs and goals. Students receive grades weekly, and tutors join classrooms weekly to offer support instruction and to observe their learning environment. The results of high-dosage tutoring through a fellowship program meet students' needs and help with teacher retention.
