È con profondo dolore che ho appreso la notizia della scomparsa del M° Lorin Maazel. Mi è molto difficile dover concepire l’universo musicale d’ora innanzi orfano di una simile personalità. È un’assenza che lascia sgomenti, in ragione della statura artistica del musicista e dell’intensità morale e caratteriale della persona. Considero un grande privilegio aver potuto collaborare con il M° Maazel, condividendo con lui numerose esperienze artistiche, fino al punto da potermi fregiare d’essergli amico, nonostante la distanza anagrafica. L’incontro con Lorin Maazel ha segnato il mio percorso artistico: al pormi nei suoi confronti quale discepolo, egli ha voluto sostituire la sfida di un confronto sempre paritetico, sul palcoscenico e in sala d’incisione. Così, attraverso lunghe e appassionate conversazioni, sulla musica, sull’arte e sulla vita, abbiamo cementato un’intesa che, dicono, traspaia nelle partiture che abbiamo affrontato insieme. Due ricordi, dei tanti che in queste ore affollano i miei pensieri: un Requiem di Verdi che eseguimmo all’Arena di Verona, un capolavoro che attraverso la sua bacchetta s’impresse a fuoco nel cuore di tutti quale squarcio epico sulla condizione umana. Ebbene, in quell’esecuzione trasse il meglio da ciascuno di noi interpreti, e nel mio caso riuscì a volgere in energia positiva il mio stato d’animo, prostrato dalla recente scomparsa di mio padre. Un altro ricordo offre invece il quadro conviviale di una tavola imbandita, in una delle occasioni in cui abbiamo avuto la gioia di condividere il desco e una sapida conversazione. Confessando reciprocamente l’amore sviscerato per le romanze di Francesco Paolo Tosti e per quel repertorio talora frettolosamente inquadrato come “salottiero”, nel giro di uno o forse due brindisi, si è materializzata un’idea, affascinante e sulle prime un po’ azzardata... In quel momento prendeva il via il progetto che avrebbe dato vita all’album “Sentimento”. Pensare a un mondo senza il Maestro, lascia un senso di profonda tristezza. Ma nei cuori e nell’anima di tutti noi, resterà la grande arte che ci ha donato. Andrea Bocelli
