نیروی خورشیدی بیشتر با بازدهی بیش از حد انتظار [نویسنده مهمان: محمدرضا شاه محمدی] دو برابر شدن بازدهی دستگاه‌های خورشیدی کاملا اقتصاد تولید انرژی از منابع تجدید‌پذیر را متحول خواهد کرد. تصویر زیر نمایش دهنده طرحی مفهومی برای دو برابر کردن بازدهی دستگاه‌های خورشیدی است. فلز منعکس کننده نور خورشید، آن را به‌صورت قطری به‌سمت قسمت جدا شده زیرین می‌فرستد و در ادامه قسمت زیرین مانند منشور یا نوعی فیلتر عمل کرده و طول موج‌های مختلف نور خورشید را دریافت و به انرژی تبدیل می‌کند و تنها اجازه عبور طول موج‌های بیشتر از مقدار تعریف شده را می‌دهد. با استفاده از این خاصیت می‌توان سلول‌های خورشیدی از جنس پیوند‌های (p-n) طراحی نمود که برای طول موجی خاص بهینه‌سازی شده باشند. با استفاده از این ساختار و به‌کاربردن این سلول‌های بهینه‌سازی شده در برابر طول موج‌ها، می‌توان بازدهی را به دوبرابر بازدهی کنونی رساند.

Central tower solar power plants fall into the category of concentrated solar systems. They concentrate solar radiation from a huge area into a very small space on top of a tower. To achieve that, they use flat mirrors, called heliostats, which are distributed around the tower with the absorber. A computer continually calculates the Sun’s position in the sky and adjusts the heliostats every few seconds to track it, to ensure the reflected light stays aimed at the top of the tower.
