Engine Oil Filter ........................ This is the part that removes the carbon, sludge and metal particles in the engine oil. If the engine oil filter is not replaced If the filter is clogged, oil cannot flow through the filter. Then the relief valve opens and sends the dirty oil into the engine. Replacement interval • Replace the engine oil filter according to the distance driven or amount of time because it is impossible to judge the level of deterioration by looking. Replacement every 10,000km (6,000 miles) or 1 year • Refer to the maintenance schedule because the changing interval varies by model and usage conditions of the vehicle For more Engine updates join our new page Automobiles and Engines

What is soldering and what is brazing? Soldering is the process of joining two metals with an alloy whose melting point is less that of the materials to be soldered. Soldering at high temperature using brass as solder is called brazing or hard soldering. The composition of the fine solder (soft solder) is tin 60% and lead 40%. Its melting point is 190°C and is widely used. For more join Mechanical Engineers Rocks.

Turbomachinery It describes machines that transfer energy between a rotor and a fluid, including both turbines and compressors. While a turbine transfers energy from a fluid to a rotor, a compressor transfers energy from a rotor to a fluid. The two types of machines are governed by the same basic relationships including Newton's second Law of Motion and Euler's energy equation for compressible fluids. Centrifugal pumps are also turbomachines that transfer energy from a rotor to a fluid, usually a liquid, while turbines and compressors usually work with a gas. Centrifugal Casting or rotocasting:- Is a casting technique that is typically used to cast thin-walled cylinders. It is noted for the high quality of the results attainable, particularly for precise control of their metallurgy and crystal structure. Unlike most other casting techniques, centrifugal casting is chiefly used to manufacture stock materials in standard sizes for further machining, rather than shaped parts tailored to a particular end-use. Process:- In centrifugal casting, a permanent mold is rotated continuously about its axis at high speeds (300 to 3000 rpm) as the molten metal is poured. The molten metal is centrifugally thrown towards the inside mold wall, where it solidifies after cooling. The casting is usually a fine-grained casting with a very fine-grained outer diameter, owing to chilling against the mould surface. Impurities and inclusions are thrown to the surface of the inside diameter, which can be machined away. Casting machines may be either horizontal or vertical-axis. Horizontal axis machines are preferred for long, thin cylinders, vertical machines for rings. For more join Mechanical Engineers Rocks. Don't Forget to join our new page Automobiles and Engines

BRUSH-UP YOUR KNOWLEDGE: What is the difference between heat pump and heat engine? Ans:-A heat pump is a machine or device that transfers thermal energy from one location, called the "source," which is at a lower temperature, to another location called the "sink" or "heat sink", which is at a higher temperature. Thus, heat pumps move thermal energy opposite to the direction that it normally flows. Whereas, A heat engine is a system that performs the conversion of heat or thermal energy to mechanical work.It does this by bringing a working substance from a high temperature state to a lower temperature state. A heat "source" generates thermal energy that brings the working substance to the high temperature state.

CLEAR YOUR CONCEPT:- Difference between damper and spring. The springs support the weight of the car, but allow movement under load in order to smooth the ride. However, because of conservation of energy, if they were not damped the suspension would continue to bounce after a bump, which could allow the wheel to temporarily lose contact with the road, reducing grip. The dampers reduce this bouncing. The force required to compress (or expand) a damper is proportional to the speed at which it is compressed (or expanded), not the distance. Fire-tube boiler:- A fire-tube boiler is a type of boiler in which hot gases from a fire pass through one or more tubes running through a sealed container of water. The heat of the gases is transferred through the walls of the tubes by thermal conduction, heating the water and ultimately creating steam. This type of boiler was used on virtually all steam locomotives in the horizontal "locomotive" form.
