Photography is crucial to your firm's success, and to answer all your questions on how to make the most of it, we have invited photographers Lara Swimmer and Bilyana Dimitrova, and Graphics Manager Ligeia Cholensky, from award winning architectural firm Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle (MS&R). Who is Presenting Bilyana Dimitrova is the former photo editor of Metropolis magazine and the author of "To Each His Home". She has received commissions as an architectural photographer since 2002 and her photography has been published in many books and magazines worldwide, including Architectural Record, Architectural Digest, Interni(Italy), New York Magazine, and The New York Times. Her writing on architectural photography has been published in the International Interior Design Association's Perspective magazine and she has been a guest-lecturer at The Savannah School of Design, Kansas State University and The New School. Most recently Bilyana curated and participated in the exhibition Beyond The Assignment: Defining Photographs of Architecture and Design, in Los Angeles. Bilyana is currently developing the US tour for the exhibition. www.bdphotography.com and www.beyondtheassignment.com Lara Swimmer lived in Paris and studied at the Sorbonne before becoming interested in architecture in post-reunification Berlin. Since returning to the Pacific Northwest in the mid-'90s, she has spent much time photographing numerous civic building projects as site documentarist, from Seattle's Paramount Theater, Union Station and KeyArena's renovations, to the Seattle Symphony, and most recently, the Seattle Central Library, SDisney Concert Hall (LA) and the Urban Outfitters relocation (Philadelphia Naval Shipyards.) Lara works on assignments around the country, and has been published in, among others, Metropolis, Architectural Record, Wallpaper, the New York Times. She has been included in exhibits nationally and internationally. Her most recent collaboration with Documentary Books is the release of INSPIRED: Churches of Seattle, which Lara was commissioned to shoot. Lara is an Honorary member of the AIA Seattle. http://www.swimmerphoto.com/ Ligeia Cholensky went to school to become an architect and ultimately chose a career as a graphic and signage designer within an architecture firm. Her well-trained eye is invaluable in the creation of the firm's various promotional materials. She seamlessly moves between myriad design programs, often assisting architects with drawings, presentations, and awards submissions. Ligeia also manages the firm's website and is involved with the AIA Minnesota Committee on Design. An associate with MSR with more than 16 years of professional experience, Ligeia serves as the firm's graphics manager.
