March 5, 2015 Snow Day | Brooklyn Series This high schooler trudges through the steady down pour of snow on a Brooklyn street on his way home. Most people kept mouthing the same thing, "when is spring getting here?" I kept asking them, "what are we going to do with all this water." My little, and I mean very little science tells me that all this snow must be coming from somewhere to come here. Are we making sure it's going back there? Just a question. #oggl_ig #blackportraiture #bedstuyportrait #brooklynportrait #brooklynphotography #street_bw #streetportrait #streetphotography #makeportrait #makeportraits #olympusomd

“I often call this world a big grid and you find yourself consistently framing it. I'm just putting the frames in place.” Originally from #Manhattan, but raised in #Connecticut, @neivy is this week’s feature for #FollowerFriday. Defining photography as “the expression of thought in space, the action of being aware of your surroundings,” Janievy uses this definition everyday as the Creative Director of the photography company @somodern and founder of @puddlegrams. Be sure to check out his feed more stunning imagery.

Photograph by @paulnicklen for @natgeo A juvenile elephant seal, just three weeks old, plays in a freshwater stream on South Georgia, Antarctica. When these pups are born, they weigh approximately 50 to 80 pounds. Within three weeks of drinking their mothers rich milk, they can weigh as much as 300 to 400 pounds. At that time, they are weaned by their mothers. Unlike many other seals, these pups seem to seek out and enjoy the company of humans. It was hard for me to photograph this pup because she kept trying to crawl on top of me in order to hang out. It was very challenging to get this image as I was laughing so hard while backing up to create the space necessary to shoot. This is the last image in our seal series.
