NASA is preparing to launch a 3-D printer into space that will serve as a flying factory of near infinite designs, greatly reducing the need for astronauts to load up with every tool, spare part or supply they might ever need. The printer, which is roughly the size of a toaster, was developed by Silicon Valley startup company Made In Space and is slated to launch in fall 2014.
