@krivicmatjaz Photographing people is not only looking at faces through a lens, it is a very deep and intimate moment I establish with the person. Sometimes it is just a brief moment, other times lasting friendships have been formed. I was sitting alone along the lake Sarovar in #Amritsar in #India, admiring an old Sikh pilgrim during his ritual washing in the lake, with the Golden Temple, the most famous place of worship for the Sikhs in the background. For a moment we had had a great interaction but a few minutes later more than 30 people behind me gathered, some trying to capture the same image and I don't know which one of us was more embarrassed, he as an object of keen photographers or me for disturbing his peace of mind. UrbaniStan is a street photography project that explores the urban environment of the developing world. The project aims to demonstrate that the term ‘urban’ in the developing world does not necessarily mean 'modern', and aims to draw the attention of the general public to the slowly declining social values that are collapsing under the increasing pressures of modernisation. The main focus of the project is to search and explore the points where people and communities develop and entwine with the urbanity of humanity.
