Onika Ranft, 47, was chatting with her partner Johan Van Zyl, 40, in their open plan kitchen living room when the device exploded just meters away. Daniel's daughter, 13, who wasn't named, was also in the room watching TV at the time of the incident. CCTV shows the pot exploding meters away from Onika and Johan but luckily neither were harmed. According to Onika, the rubber seal in the lid flew out, which caused the explosion. Pressure cookers can reach temperatures of around 250 degrees Celsius - more than twice the boiling point of water. Onika, a revenue manager from Port Alfred in Eastern Cape, South Africa, said: "It could melt your flesh right off. "The amount of pressure that builds up for the whole big pot to leap up like that you can imagine how hot it was. "You know that feeling when you are driving and you just avoid an accident. Your whole body goes ice cold and your legs go numb. That is how I felt." Onika had only been using the cooker for six months after replacing one she had had for 25 years. According to Onika, there were no signs that the pressure cooker was damaged. She said: "On the lid, there is a little square hole that the ring fits over. When the pressure became too much, the seal popped through the hole and the pot took flight. "It had no nicks, cuts or damage." She added: "I grew with pressure cookers. I inherited my mum's and had that for 25 years without replacing the rubber seal. "I just find that older cookware lasts longer."

Since they started posting, people have travelled from Australia, Turkey, Spain, Germany and Amsterdam to their 'tram' in Preston Flag Market, Lancs. The siblings, whose username is @TheSpudBrothers, say 'it's hard' to say how many potatoes a day they make and serve but they often have to turn customers away. Jacob said: "We open at 11.30am and we always have around 30 people in the queue waiting for us to open. "Then it's constant to 3pm so we have to turn people away because the jacket potatoes take around two hours to cook. "We hate doing it and disappointing people, but we have to do it. "We don't even know how many potatoes we can serve in a day, which is bizarre, because it's constantly busy from open to close. "We've had people come from Germany, Amsterdam, Turkey, Spain and Australia come to visit. "We love the support and we are so grateful for people trying our little potato van in Preston so we always try and make it special for them. "We try and serve food and also give people that customer interaction." The business was founded in 1955 by Ernie Rhodes, who then passed it down to his nephew Keith Roberts in 1978. "It was always a good business that did well and had a good reputation in Preston. "Nobody in his family wanted to take it on so he spoke to my dad about it because they were good friends and I used to work there. "We just decided to buy the business and made a go of it to keep the legacy going. "It's just insane." The sibling duo serve all types of classic spud toppings including cheese and beans, tuna and coleslaw. Residents have been left in a flap over the 'downpours' of bird poo splattering their area after the starlings began to appear in the skies over Great Gonerby, Lincs. At first, locals were left wowed by stunning sunset displays of clouds of birds swirling overhead - but said it quickly turned into a "nightmare". Since the birds began to flock to the village three weeks ago, they have left behind a mountain of mess, leaving entire cars and homes covered in droppings. Fed-up villagers have been forced to wash their vehicles and windows daily while others are only leaving home with umbrellas for protection from the 'bombardment'. Dad-of-two Drew Hammond, 31, a drainage engineer, who lives with partner Katie Kennett, 32, said: "It was amazing to see at first but the aftermath is terrible. “Our car got completely peppered in it. I’ve watched neighbours wash their car every day. “I have a terrapin in my back garden too, his pond is littered with poo. The kids play equipment we’ve had to cover so they don’t gets plastered as well. “My daughters blind so when she’s not using her cane she uses the hand rails but we’ve had to tell her not to touch things. "Going down the step she uses the railings but all the railings are peppered with poo. She’s an independent little girl and she won’t let us help her. "It was nice at the beginning - but not anymore. It is the first year they have been here since we moved in six years ago and it is a nuisance." The huge swarm often turns the sky black at dawn and dusk as they prepare to feed or roost for the night. Another local Terry Hill, 67, a grandad-of-one, compared the bombardment to scenes from Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 horror film The Birds. He added: "I suppose its nature and you have to accept it but I just could not believe the mess they are leaving. We are getting torrential downpours of droppings. "I've seen people walking down the street with umbrellas on clear days and evenings so they don't get splatted with poo. It's been like something from The Birds." Resident Andrew Comtois 44, added: "It was quite a spectacular sight at first but it soon turned into a nightmare. "Some streets have been completely bombarded with almost like a carpet bombing of bird poo. They have been pooing on people's heads too. "We were told they should move on after a couple of weeks …
