May 27, 2014 "Equality" Is that even possible? Men and Women, Dominant culture and all other minorities? Are we suppose to have rich and poor? Had this conversation last week with some friends, where one Brit of the African persuasion declared that he does not limit himself by using the label "black." I have been pondering the merits of his argument since. In my history, past, and path, I have come across too many situations where I was judged by my complexion, so I have been wondering, am I flawed in my thinking because I have been wearing the label. Again this is just me asking questions in my usual ramble of pictures and words. Like this picture, I feel like my concerns are not considered by the "other," we are divided by sometimes transparent borders and I have to look to my kind for relief. The past two years I have seen where that conjecture or way of thinking has been flawed. I have folks from the "other" who share my outlook on life, and photography, and have been looking out for me. But still I ask, am I their equal? #oggl_ig #blackportraiture #whiteportraiture #street_bw #streetportrait #streetphotography #nyc #makeportrait #makeportraits #igers #instamood #sonyrx1

The three majestic natural bridges of Natural Bridges National Monument in Utah invite you to ponder the power of water in a landscape usually defined by its absence. View them from an overlook, or hit the trails and experience their grandeur from below. Declared a National Monument in 1908, the bridges are named "Kachina," "Owachomo" and "Sipapu" in honor of the Native Americans that once made this area their home. This is also home to some of the darkest night skies in the United States. Photo: Manish Mamtani

The star trails image encompasses about 40 minutes of exposure time and captures the movement of the milky way (which is why the trails are so dense) with a Sierra Juniper in the foreground. Photo taken near the Slinkard Wilderness Study Area, #California, of about 6,500 acres and tops out at around 8500 feet.
