Argentine illustrator and designer Carla Pintos (@carpintos) found home in the biosphere reserve of Mar Chiquito, a lagoon in the Buenos Aires province. “It’s like a dream come true,” the 33-year-old artist says. “We wake up and see the sun shining on the water.” Nature has become the main source of inspiration for her detailed works on ceramic, paper and glass. “We live among flamingos, butterflies, green vines, sand dunes, fish, hummingbirds, sea gulls, swallows, crabs, trees and flowers,” she explains. Her daily job is to embellish everything she finds, she says, from walls to plates. “Life is like we paint it, that’s why I always choose to fill it with colors.” Photo by @carpintos

Let's talk about pregnancy cravings. Today I resolved to say no to my rampant cravings (apparently the logic that if your body craves it you must need it doesn't apply to jelly beans or bologna sandwiches or Cadbury eggs). When I found out I was pregnant I promised myself that I wouldn't be self indulgent, that I wouldn't cite the "eating for two" myth as I indulged. Well, no surprise despite my resolve and weaving healthier choices into my diet & educating myself about my nutritional and caloric needs (sadly the same as pre-pregnancy until that last trimester), the cravings for junk & damn grilled cheese sandwiches have been beastly. And my efforts to resist none too valiant. Somehow the whole "tiny human growing inside you" thing really makes you feel entitled. Alas, it's more important now than ever that I live a healthy lifestyle. So aside from a cheat evening once a week, I'm going to be sticking to a diet of whole foods: green juices & smoothies, oatmeal, organic cottage cheese, and all manner of homemade meals based around whole grains, dark leafy greens, and pulses. When I do indulge hopefully it will be things like these gluten & dairy free chocolate cupcakes, still cupcakes but lighter none the less (recipe is on my blog!) And we just won't count the lone jellybean I found at the bottom of my purse... #pregnancycravings #mamatobe
