Lofty peaks air-brushed by wind and snow. #RockyMountain National Park (@rockynps) in #Colorado is beautiful during #winter. Photo by #NationalPark Service.

Whoa! Two cloud-to-ground #lightning bolts strike down over the mountains near #WhiteSands National Monument in #NewMexico. ⚡️ The #MilkyWay shines above and moon rays streak out from behind the clouds -- creating even more drama in this spectacular shot. The mountains, valleys and lakes of #Glacier National Park in #Montana were created by powerful geological forces over millions of years. The results of uplift and glacier carving all come together to give us this amazing beauty -- truly a gift from nature. It’s really incredible when you think about it! Help us celebrate #WorldWetlandsDay! Among the world’s most productive environments, #wetlands are critically important to freshwater supply, biodiversity, flood control and food production. They’re also places of stunning natural beauty. Photo from the Pa-hay-okee overlook at #Everglades #NationalPark (@evergladesnps) in #Florida courtesy of Paul Marcellini (@paulmarcellini ).

A dreamy pic of #Yosemite National Park’s icon #ElCapitan peeking through the fog. Vincent James (@vjamesphoto) captured this photo a few weeks ago as a storm rolled through the park. Eventually, the clouds began to part, fog began to form and settle low in the Valley and everything came together so fast. Of the experience, Vincent said, “Lesson learned is: whatever you are going for, you not only do you need to show up, but you need to stick with it. And it will pay off.” We agree. Within the 236,000 acres of #MountRainier National Park in #Washington is the #TatooshRange. A popular area for hikers and photographers, the range include 13 prominent peaks with awesome names like Unicorn Peak, Manatee Mountain and The Castle. Don’t they look great at #sunset? Haleakala #NationalPark in #Hawaii is a special place with stark volcanic landscapes and a subtropical rain forest. You can watch the #sunrise above the clouds at #Haleakala Summit, or come for sunset and stick around for some of the best stargazing in the world. A visit to the park isn’t complete without a hike to Oheo Gulch in the park’s Kipahulu District. Also called the Seven Sacred Pools, the area is known for its beautifully tiered pools fed by cascading waterfalls that are surrounded by vibrant, lush vegetation. Visit for more warm

Mist rises from Ahwahnee Meadow on a cold #winter morning in #Yosemite #NationalPark creating a dreamy blue scene. While #HalfDome wears a light dusting of snow, other areas of the park received more than 200 inches -- or almost 17 feet -- so far this winter! There’s still time to enjoy snow-dusted views and winter activities @yosemitenps before warm weather arrives. Photo courtesy of Douglas Croft.

One of the most dramatic sunrises we've ever seen over #RockyMountain National Park in #Colorado. Erik Page ( took this pic two weeks ago on a cold, windy morning. But it was all worth it. Of the moment, Erik says, “Sometimes you get a wild hair to go on a #sunrise adventure, and the sky just so happens to go thermonuclear!” Photo @rockynps courtesy of Erik Page (

#DeathValley National Park never disappoints with 3.4 million acres of desert and mountains in California and Nevada -- making it the largest #nationalpark in the lower 48 states. Donna Fullerton captured this gorgeous view as a storm rolled in, giving more color and contrast to the Grapevine Mountains while churning sand creates the illusion of fog. Photo from
