Prince William travelled to the United Arab Emirates to deliver condolences on behalf of the Queen and the royal family on the death of the country’s ruler Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Duke of Cambridge paid his respects during a meeting with the federation’s new president and ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Monday (16 May). Dozens of wounded Ukrainian soldiers have arrived in Novoazovsk after being evacuated from the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol. Footage obtained by Reuters shows five buses carrying troops arrive in the Russian-controlled town, late on Monday (May 16). Some of the evacuated were badly injured and carried out of the buses on stretchers, after spending months inside the steel plant. Boris Johnson said his plan to legislate to rip up Northern Ireland’s post-Brexit trading arrangements was an “insurance” policy if a fresh deal could not be reached with the European Union. Jake Daniels has become the UK’s first active male footballer to come out as gay since Justin Fashanu in 1990. The Blackpool forward, 17, says the decision to go public will leave him “free and confident”. “It’s been such a long time of lying and I’ve just processed and processed every day about how I want to do it,” Daniels explained. “I want people to know the real me... A Greek helicopter pilot who admitted to smothering his British wife to death has been found guilty of murder. Babis Anagnostopoulos, 34, initially claimed that three robbers had burst into the couple’s home north of Athens, tied him to a chair and asphyxiated his wife in front of their 11-month-old daughter, Lydia. He later admitted to murdering Caroline Crouch in a fit of rage after a domestic fight and after being found guilty, faces a maximum of 35 years in prison. Audio of Amber Heard calling Johnny Depp “Junkie Johnny” was played in court on Monday, during the former couple’s multi-million-dollar defamation trial. Ms Heard took the stand as proceedings resumed after a one-week break, explaining how she faced “different versions” of Mr Depp. In the audio played to the court, she says: “I get different versions of him.
