Photo taken by @stevemccurryofficial // For two thousand years, the route of the Grand Trunk Road (GT) has connected a ribbon of humanity stretching Northwest from Kolkata, India, the city of culture and joy, to Kabul, the city of conflict and danger. It was the route of merchants, buyers, conquerors, refugees, prophets, nomads and pilgrims through what is today India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Rudyard Kipling said, "And truly the Grand Trunk Road is a wonderful spectacle. Such a river of life as no where else exists in the world." I shot this picture of reflections at the Taj Mahal in Agra, which is one of the many cities along the road. To see more from the GT, visit my blog: https://goo.gl/JQVgZv

Photo taken by @stevemccurryofficial // I visited Sri Lanka during the monsoon season, and caught this picture of a man on an elephant with an umbrella, and a man walking who is using a large leaf to protect himself from the rain. The Sri Lankan elephant, a subspecies of Asian Elephants, are native to Sri Lanka. Since fewer than 10% of males have tusks, poaching is not the threat it is in other countries. Elephants have been an integral part of the culture for over two millennia. Check out our current project in Afghanistan: @imagine_asia
