@paulnicklen from an @natgeo assignment on #Svalbard #Norway. A young #polar #bear navigates the shifting ice floes during the summer. @cristinamittermeier and I are traveling back to Svalbard at this very moment to lead one of our donors of @SeaLegacy to show her and our film team what is at stake as we continue to lose sea ice. She will enjoy seeing her first polar bears and then use her connections to help sway public opinion on an issue that way too many still ignore. Projections are that the Arctic could be free of the summertime extent of sea ice in the next 8 to 20 years having serious effects on all wildlife populations. In fact, early reports are that there is little to no sea ice around Svalbard at this moment which is way too early in the season. #sealegacy #picoftheday #instagramhub #climatechange @natgeocreative
