#JohnLeeHooker would've turned 98 today. "Ev’ybody thinks about death sometimes, I think. You ain’t gonna be here forever," he told @RollingStone in 1998. "You gotta go someday — that’s gonna happen for sure. And whether you come back, I don’t know. Some people say you come back; I dunno. I don’t know nobody who’s come back... And whether there’s another world, we don’t know. So just live for as long as you can, enjoy life, enjoy the pretty women in the world. Just live and let live. And love people. There’s some good in everybody. I’ll never put anybody down. Even the winos down on Sixth Street. I see ‘em, I always give ‘em 50 cents. They good people

If you are celebrating today may it be epic!

Dennis Dunn, known among friends as “The Button Man," showed off his collection this morning on Fifth Avenue. "I've been collecting them for over 35 years," he told @fremson, who is posting photos from the #stpatricksday parade. Dennis, whose family hails from County Cavan, in #Ireland, has watched the parade from the same spot for the past 20 years. His festive sweater comes, too. (But he only removes the buttons to wash it every few years, he said.)

Door knobs on door to Rüstem Pasha mosque extrude geometry of decorative wood door patterns with inlaid mother of pearl. Even with today's Rhino and other CAD modeling software this would be incredibly complex to construct! This was 500 years ago by hand. When the Bergen Museum in Norway closed the doors of its natural history section for restoration in 2013, it was forced to operate an unusual migration: moving thousands of taxidermied animals. The fragile figures had to be carefully wrapped for transportation. Norwegian photographer Helge Skodvin (@hskodvin) took a humorous approach to the move, letting the animals “be themselves,” he tells TIME. Photograph by @hskodvin—@instituteartist. Ryan Deboodt (@rdeboodt) here on my @smithsonianmagazine takeover taking you on a journey through the caves in Phong Nha Ke Bang in central Vietnam. In Hang Son Doong there is sometimes a lake that forms near the exit of the cave. This lake can appear and disappear quickly, just a few days after I took this photo all the water was gone and all that was left was a muddy trench.

Take a photo me, photographer!
