For over 75 years, the United Nations (UN) has been a driving force in addressing global challenges and fostering collaboration for a better future. Established in 1945 after World War II, the UN began with 51 member states committed to peace, security, human rights, and sustainable development. Over the decades, it has expanded its mission to tackle critical issues such as poverty, climate change, education, and gender equality. A cornerstone of the UN’s vision is the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted in 2015 by 193 member states. These 17 interconnected goals aim to address the world’s most urgent challenges by 2030, creating a framework for a fairer, more inclusive, and sustainable world. The UN also prioritizes empowering youth through initiatives like the GYEL, which cultivates leadership and innovation and prepares young people to navigate an increasingly interconnected world.
