In this weekend's paper our Art Critic Waldemar Januszczak writes about his visit to Banksy's "Bemusement Park", Dismaland. Our photographer, Jeremy Young went with him to capture all the fun of the fair for us. This is the artist's largest scale work- a disused lido on the seafront of Weston-super-Mare converted into a twisted parody of Disneyland. The sullen attendants wear pink high viz jackets and mouse ears, the fairytale castle is a fire damaged ruin and Cinderella is lying dead after a coach crash, surrounded by paparazzi. Banksy isn't the only artist on display here- the collection includes pieces by David Shrigley, Damian Hirst and Jenny Holzer to name but a few. A warning on the website says: "The following are strictly prohibited in the Park – spray paint, marker pens, knives and legal representatives of the Walt Disney Corporation." Dismaland is open for the next 5 weeks. The ticket website has been almost impossible to use, though some people have speculated that it too is all part of the experience. You can read Waldemar's complete article by going to our website. #STStories #SundayTimes #JeremyYoung @Artywaldy #Banksy #Dismaland #WestonSuperMare #Art #AmusementPark #Disney #Satire #Disneyland #Seaside #Artist #rubberduck #pollution #oil
