Dr. Morris Brown

Dr. Morris Brown, born in 1948 in Anniston, Alabama, grew up in a family deeply rooted in the values of hard work and community service. Originally a sharecropper, his mother transitioned into nursing, and his father, a laborer, also served as a Baptist preacher. Dr. Brown was the fourth of eight children in a household that faced the challenges of segregation and racial injustice during the era of Jim Crow laws. These early experiences shaped his perspective on life and fueled his determination to effect change in society. Despite the societal barriers of his time, including witnessing racially charged violence in his hometown, Dr. Brown was motivated to overcome these adversities. He started his journey in the workforce at a young age, taking roles as a bagger and cashier, where he was among the first African Americans to integrate into these positions in his area. This early exposure to the working world laid the foundation for his strong work ethic.
