A beautiful aerial view of Lime Bay on the Tasman Peninsula by Martin Lowe from @tasmanian_aerial_photography 😃 Lime Bay State Reserve is a beautiful 1300 ha secluded reserve of sheltered beaches and pretty eucalypt woodlands at the end of Coal Mines Rd, on the north-west tip of the Tasman Peninsula. Lime Bay is right next to the camping area and the beach is truly stunning. As you can see it is shallow and therefore the water is at least 5 degrees warmer than it is offshore. This place is one that has to go on your must-visit list 😀 #tasmania #discovertasmania #discoveraustralia #amazingtasmania #amazingaustralia #exploretasmania #exploreaustralia #tassie #instatassie #instatasmania #tasmaniagram #tassiepics #hobartandbeyond #clicktasmania #seeaustralia #tasmanpeninsula #limebay #portarthur #australia #gosomewhere #getlostnow

Where will your next adventure take you? Tassie photographer @James.Garlick ventured out into the Tassie night to capture this awe-inspiring nightscape just a short distance from Hobart on the roads heading toward the Derwent Valley. Unlike many spots around the world, you don't need to travel very far beyond city limits to escape the ambient light and marvel at the brilliant beams of our night sky. As Tassie heads into the cooler winter months, with prolonged hours of darkness, there are even more opportunities to rediscover incredible views like this one... Whether you're an avid stargazer, a budding aurora-chaser or just seeking out that lucky star to make a wish, we've got an entire universe waiting for you discover! Thanks for tagging #DiscoverTasmania, James! #Hobartandbeyond #Tasmania #Seeaustralia #stargazing

Nature's artistry at its very best with Maria Island's remarkable Painted Cliffs, captured by @abiirose__. One of the 60 Great Short Walks of Tasmania, the 1.5 to 2-hour return leisurely walk to the cliffs from the Maria Island Visitor Centre takes you along the north-western coastline of Tassie's only island national park, past the colonial ruins adjacent to Darlington Bay and Hopground Beach. Best visited at low tide, the concentric patterns at the cliffs are caused by groundwater percolating down through the already formed sandstone over millions of years, leaving traces of iron oxides which have stained the rock. A stunning shot, Abby - thanks for tagging #discovertasmania. #tasmania #seeaustralia #mariaisland

Misty morning adventures on the roads of kunanyi / Mount Wellington with @Jasoncharleshill and @jamesboagau. Even on mornings like this when you may not be able to see the sprawling views that our mountain is famous for, there is still plenty to discover. From dry woodlands to windswept summits, Wellington Park is threaded with tracks and trails just waiting to be explored. The shorter walks in the eastern foothills are well suited for the whole family, while more exposed tracks extend beyond the summit to wild and remote places. And, after a morning of exploring, why not pop into the Springs for a hot coffee to warm up! Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania, Jason! #Tasmania #SeeAustralia #kunanyi #mountwellington #jamesboags

I had a lovely drive down to Eaglehawk Neck today for some "me" time. I roamed around at the Tesselated Pavement and then the Blowhole before heading to the Dunalley Fish Market for fish and chips by the canal. I got to share my lunch with my old mate Bill the dog while his good friend Gideon the seal swam back and forth the whole time 😊

Starting the week off right, taking in the sweeping coastal views from the jagged, dolerite sea cliffs of Cape Raoul with @kev_mrc. This 14km return day-walk through the stunning wilderness of the Tasman National Park takes hikers right to the edge of the world, offering some of the most spectacular coastal views in Tassie. With only a few steep sections, the walk is a comfortable 5 hours allowing plenty of time to relax and enjoy the expansive views of the surrounding Tasman Peninsular and further south to Bruny Island. Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania, Kevin! #CapeRaoul #TasmanNationalPark

The Tasman Peninsula’s Cape Pillar from the air, thanks to @alanlongphoto. In the top left corner is ‘The Blade’ - a narrow, columnar outcrop that extends south and overlooks the 280 metre-high sea cliffs of Tasman Island. Those with a head for heights and a passion for adventure can traverse a narrow track on to The Blade to experience what has to be one of the world’s great seascapes. Cape Pillar forms part of the recently opened Three Capes Track – a four day / three night adventure that weaves its way through the Tasman National Park. With its incredible track-work, comfortable huts with ranger hosts, and breathtaking scenery, the Three Capes Track fast becoming Australia’s premier multi-day walk. It's a "black and white" kind of day! Here is a winter wonderland photo from along the Gordon River Road by @camblakephotography ⛄⛄⛄ This 85km road, sometimes called the Strathgordon Road, is in south west Tassie. As you can see it is an amazing place in winter ❄❄❄ Both the Gordon River and Scotts Peak roads take you through part of the magnificent World Heritage Area. The roads are lined with native vegetation including rainforest species such as myrtle, sassafras and celery pine top. There are also numerous picnic spots on the Gordon River Road and at the end of the Scotts Peak Road you will find the Huon Campground 😀 #tasmania #discovertasmania #discoveraustralia #amazingtasmania #amazingaustralia #exploretasmania #exploretasmania #tassie #instatassie #instatasmania #tasmaniagram #tassiepics #hobart #hobartandbeyond #clicktasmania #seeaustralia #winterwonderland #gordonriver #strathgordon #gosomewhere #getlostnow

A classic view of Cradle Mountain from atop Glacier Rock thanks to @timjordanphotography. Glacier Rock is located within the first 15 minutes of the two-hour Dove Lake Circuit Walk - one of Tassie's 60 Great Short Walks and possibly the most popular strolls within the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. There are numerous vantages from which to take in the mountain, as well as the breathtaking majesty of the surrounding World Heritage-listed wilderness. It's two hours of gentle walking that will leave you simultaneously mesmerised, calmed and invigorated! Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania, Tim. #tasmania #seeaustralia

Making friends with some Great Oyster Bay locals on @eastcoasttasmania with @star_train. Positioned between the Freycinet Peninsula and Schouten Island to the east, and the Tassie mainland to the west, Great Oyster Bay is a highlight of the @greateasterndrive and the setting for the communities of Swansea, Dolphin Sands and Coles Bay. At the north, the floodplains of the Aspley and Swan rivers have created Moulting Lagoon, an important Ramsar-listed wetland and reserve - home to a vast range of waterbirds and wildlife. The fading, golden hues of Autumn surrounding the alpine shores of Lake Hanson in the Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park. With its ancient rainforests and alpine heaths, the park is home to the world-famous Overland Track and iconic Cradle Mountain. Part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, it is one of the state's most visited and recognisable regions. This stunning little lake is just one of many glacial lakes in the rugged wilderness surrounding Cradle Mountain. Other nearby lakes include the Twisted Lakes, Lake Wilks, Pickford Tarn and the famous Dove Lake beneath Cradle's jagged peaks. "And it's good m-o-o-o-rning from Hobart in Tasmania, where it's going to be a fine Autumn day with a top temperature of around 15 degrees. Behind me is kunanyi / Mount Wellington - or 'The Mountain' as the locals like to call it. How many capital cities in the world do you know that have an 18,000 hectare playground just 20 minutes' drive from the CBD? Pretty impressive, huh! I reckon there'll be a hive of activity on the mountain this weekend - hiking, mountain-biking, climbing....I might just have to fly up there on Saturday arvo after a feed of hot chips on the waterfront! Anyway, it's back to you in the studio, Sam..." Your classic shot made us smile, @james_stone76! Thanks for tagging #discovertasmania.

Misty morning views over the Pieman River and the Arcadia II – the world’s oldest Huon pine passenger boat still in use – captured here in all her glory by @photobytj. The Arcadia II was built in Hobart and remained in service until her war effort in World War II. She served as a supply ship in the pacific war zone around New Guinea, before returning home to Tassie. These days, the stunning vessel takes visitors on enchanting cruises along the Pieman River through the heart of @TasmaniasNW's Tarkine wilderness.
