Memories in Honors Bio ‍‍‍On the first day of school, I walked in the classroom fearful that I had made a huge mistake signing up for honors biology. …

New learning (macromolecules) - In this lab, I had the chance to explore the different tests for different macromolecules to see what macromolecule a substance was. This lab helped me remember the positive and negative results of each test which came handy on the chapter test.

Achievement (summer reading) - When I first started the book, I was bored out of my mind and could not finish it but as the days of summer flew away, I had that conscience telling me that I should read the book . When I got to about the middle of the book, I realized that it actually wasn't as bad as I had thought and I finished reading it without hesitation. I'm proud of myself for being interested in such a book, because I never reading science related books.

New Learning (cell division) - In addition to the onion tip lab in class, we got to examine cells and which phases they were in. I learned that cells are in interphase for most of their time and they don't divide as often as I had thought.

New Learning(study skills) - In eighth grade, study guides consisted of questions that would actually be on the test while this first study guide forced me to have more open ended answers. As a result, I wrote down the answers by hand which helped me remember the content much better.

Achievement (Cellular Respiration) - On previous tests, my scores were significantly lower and when it came to this test, I felt well-prepared, especially in the chapter of cellular respiration. I take pride in the fact that I finally got an A on a bio test.

New Learning (photosynthesis) -throughout chapter 6, I was confused about how the light reactions worked once I took the time to refer to the pictures in the book and redraw each part, it gave me a better understanding of how the sun's energy moves through the thylakoid membrane.

New learning (microscopy) - Prior to the lab, I used the microscope to examine Elodea and that was the first time I learned to properly use a microscope. In this exploration lab I was able to look at any thing I wanted to while using my newly learned skills of microscopy.

New learning (technology) In this class I've had the opportunity to use many different online systems including google classroom, google drive , animoto, and canva. Exposure to such sites have given me more options to use for projects outside of the class. It has also allowed me to discover features of a chrome book, like taking screenshots, previously unknown to me.
