Pom Pom Purin says relax... in celebration of National #RelaxationDay!

Beginning in 1942, 29 young Navajo Marines developed an impenetrable code that the Allies used in the Pacific theater. By the end of the war, over 400 Navajos had been trained and served as Code Talkers. On August 14, 1982 President Reagan recognized the Code Talkers for their immense contribution to hastening Japan’s defeat and proclaimed the day National Navajo Code Talkers Day. In 2000, President Clinton awarded the original 29 Code Talkers the Congressional Gold Medal, and in 2001 four of the remaining original 29 Code Talkers were presented with their medals by President Bush. Major General Howard Connor, who directed signals for the invasion of Iwo Jima and kept six Navajos working 24/7 during the invasion, famously said: Were it not for the Navajo, the Marines would never have taken Iwo Jima. Ahéhee', Code Talkers.

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and is doing great. The Warm weather has definitely been playing havoc with me and the animals. Yesterday at Ocean Beach I spotted one of my friends who appears to be in her Molting stage. Raven's begin molting while the young are fledgling and it can lost up to 150 days. She looks a bit ragged here and maybe even a bit hot, although the beach was cooler than in town.
