Davis grew up in Birmingham, AL, & after 4 childhood friends were killed in a church bombing, she began her quest in activism. After moving to Oakland, CA she aided began an organization aimed at ending the prison industrial complex. During that time she was also tried and acquitted in the involvement of the Marin County Courthouse hostile takeover, which resulted in the murder of a judge; & although Davis was heavily involved with the Black Panther Party movement, she was never a member. African Americans are usually@the subject of photos and fashion spreads but we often forget that the ones behind the camera are also a part of the magic that happens. Gordon Parks is an example of this. He was an iconic Black photographer whose works have graces the pages of Life and TIME, and he is most famous for his work on the shots he took for Life Magazine of the 1971 film "Shaft" #PayHomage #blackhistorymonth #blackhistorymonthphotochallange #Feb2
