@anthony_walsh_ About the Shot: I love this photo of my son Damien playing on my board after a #surf in #Indonesia. He had already been in the water for 2 hours and he is still having the best time ever. What could be better than that? How the Shot was Captured: This was shot with on my #HERO4Black using a @Knektusa dome port. Using the dome, I set my #GoPro on 30/1 Burst-Mode to get the #overunder shot. I love that setting because it gives you more chances of capturing that split moment which no other camera on the market can do! #GoProFamily #GoProSurf

Photo @ladzinski / A quick break in the weather and moment of morning light hitting the snowy #Flatirons before swallowing it up in a bank of clouds. The estimated age of these beautiful formations is roughly 290 million years. The flatiron are famous for rock climbing, hiking and trail running and as the backdrop of Boulder Colorado.

@anthony_walsh_ About the Shot: Without a doubt, Teahupoo, Tahiti is one of my favorite places on earth, ever and this photo in particular says alot about how special #Teahupoo is. Between the perfect waves, amazing landscape and warm crystal clear water it’s a wonder why I ever leave. How the Shot was Captured: These shots are always a blast to capture, and pretty easy too! Holding the camera in my hand, (with a floaty on it of course), I set my #GoPro #HERO4Black .5s #timelapse to ensure I grabbed at least one good photo. #GoProTravel #GoProSurf

Todos Santos, Mexico: #23 on @nytimestravel's list of 52 places to go in 2016. Nearly 50 miles north of Cabo San Lucas, tranquil Todos Santos has long been a surfer’s retreat and a day-trip destination for Cabo travelers keen to visit art galleries. But soon, the Pacific Coast locale may tempt visitors to stay longer. This year, the new Tres Santos development plans to open a 32-room beachfront hotel, a farm and a village with shops, restaurants and a farmer’s market. A new 3.5-mile hiking and biking path, which will link the beach to town to encourage sustainable commutes. @damonwinter photographed these crashing waves at Las Playitas while on #nytassignment. This #nytweekender, we’re sharing photos from @nytimestravel’s list of 52 Places to Go in 2016. Visit the link in our profile to see more photos of our editors’ dream destinations.

The total land area that is environmentally protected in the country represents over 15% of Indonesia's landmass. And yet real enforcement must follow from these good intentions… --- Our mission at LensCulture is to discover and share the best in contemporary photography. At the start of 2015, we decided to expand this mission onto Instagram: each week, we selected one photographer, from anywhere in the world, and asked them to share their work with our audience. The effort has been a resounding success: not only are the photographers thrilled to share their work, but our audience has really responded. In January 2015, we had less than 1,000 fans—today, we have surpassed 150,000! To thank and celebrate all the photographers who contributed their work in this past year, we have asked them to share one final photograph for 2015. Some of them offered a few words about why they chose this particular photograph. Others simply wanted to let the image speak for itself. We hope you enjoy these photographs—and have a great start to 2016!

Photo: @chrisburkard I have never really seen anything as majestic and timeless as the Matterhorn. It is such a commanding peak that it truly dominates the landscape.

Photo by @andywcoleman //The name pygmy elephant conjures up images of a petite pachyderm, something akin to a miniature horse, but our guide assured us that the elephants of #Borneo were nothing to scoff at. Still, we'd be hard pressed to find out for ourselves as these creatures are both rare and elusive. We took the boat some 70 km up the river to a place where they had last been spotted when our guide saw a matted area at the river's edge. Before long, we heard them and, after an hour we were watching 3 dozen elephants eating, drinking and frolicking by the river. It wasn't until 2003 that DNA indicated that these elephants were distinct from their Asian counterparts. These elephants had babyish faces and straight tusks, but were in no way diminutive in size or stature.

Yes...places like this exist beyond just the post cards. In fact, #lonelyplanet Social Media Coordinator, @mazmckenzie is there now (you lucky duck). If you'd also like to be on the west coast of #Barbados right now, in #StJames walking along #SandyLane beach, rum in hand, give us a thumbs up emoji below in the comments! 👍🏻🌴
